Bombers Bits Pelham Happy Tongue

Description

The Bombers Happy Tongue Pelham Bit features a solid mouthpiece that is uniquely ported to give maximum tongue relief. This is curved to be soft on the bars and slow in applying tongue pressure.

Made from a blue sweet iron, it oxidises easily which encourages salivation and encourages your horse to accept the bit as it is warm and sweet. It is a popular design recommended by Bombers for all young horses and those that show tongue sensitive signs. These signs can include a horse:

  • Shaking its head.

  • Sticking its tongue out.

  • Sucking its tongue back and as a result making an intermittent coughing noise.

  • Trying to put its tongue over the bit.

  • Going behind the bit to avoid the contact.

  • Snatching the reins forward and down.

The pelham has attachments for two reins, one near the mouthpiece and one at the end of the shank. Some riders may prefer to use rein connectors. The pelhamwith a 55mm shank exerts moderate pressure at the poll and leverage on the mouthpiece and curb.
