The Korsteel Tom Thumb Rubber Jointed Pelham is a good choice for horses who need a little more control than a snaffle provides but still need a gentle mouthpiece. The single jointed mouthpiece applies pressure to the sides of the tongue, bars and lips. As rein pressure increases, the bit tightens in the horse's mouth providing greater control. Rubber bits are warmer in the mouth and have a different flavor that some horses prefer.

The Tom Thumb cheeks are shorter than on a traditional pelham making this a better bit for an inexperienced rider as there is less curb action available.
